We will welcome the New Year with a Gala Dinner with entertainment at our luxury Spa hotel in Budapest and next day enjoy the New Year’s Day concert. Here we can also rejuvenate and sample a spa treatment and enjoy the thermal spa facilities. On New Year’s Day we also enjoy a spectacular evening cruise on the Danube and see the illuminated Budapest in all its glory!

Day 1: Tues 26 Dec
Depart Australia with Emirates on an evening flight to Vienna via Dubai.
Day 2: Wed 27 Dec BRATISLAVA, SLOVAKIA
12:20pm: Arrive at Vienna airport and travel 50 minutes to Slovakia’s capital, historic Bratislava, which was also capital of the Hungarian Empire for 200 years. We stay at the 5-star Radisson Hotel in the heart of the old town surrounded by beautifully restored baroque city palaces.

Day 3: Thurs 28 Dec BRATISLAVA, SLOVAKIA
10am: Meet our local guide for a 4 hour bus and walking tour of the city and Devin castle. Enjoy the unique atmosphere of this historical and modern city with its winding streets of the pedestrian Old Town. See the medieval Michael’s Gate and Tower, Bratislava Castle and some beautifully reconstructed palaces. We then visit the Primate’s Palace and it’s most famous chamber, The Hall of Mirrors that has played host to many significant events. We drive 13km west of the city to Devin Castle destroyed in 1809 by Napoleon’s army, today it lies in ruins and is one of the most important monuments in Slovakia.

Day 4: Fri 29 Dec BRATISLAVA - BUDAPEST, HUNGARY
11am: Depart Bratislava for a 3 hour scenic drive across Slovakia, crossing the border into Hungary’s capital, Budapest, also known as “Pearl on the Danube”. We spend 4 nights at the luxury newly renovated rooms of the Spa Hotel Thermal located in the heart of Budapest, on the picturesque and tranquil Margaret Island on the Danube River. Explore the 100 year old park on Margaret Island, the open-air theatre and UNESCO’s listed water tower. After an orientation tour you can relax and unwind in one of the thermal pools in the comfort of our hotel. In the afternoon enjoy the free time in the city centre. Stroll through the pedestrian part of the city - the fashionable Vaci Street, filled with shops, boutiques and cafes and enjoy the Christmas atmosphere and winter festival. Visit the 150 year old Gerbaud Café which is the most traditional Café house in Europe.
Each evening in Budapest we dine at one of the island’s restaurants offering a superb local buffet dinner and entertainment by a Cimbal player or gypsy band.
Day 5: Sat 30 Dec BUDAPEST, HUNGARY
10am: Meet our local guide for a 5-hour Grand City Tour of Budapest which includes Heroes Square, St Stephen’s Basilica, the Castle District, Fishermen’s Bastion to enjoy one of the best panoramic views of Budapest and the Royal Palace.
Enjoy free time at the neo-Gothic Central Market Hall and marvel at the variety of fresh produce, gifts & souvenirs.
Day 6: Sun 31 Dec [New Year’s Eve] BUDAPEST, HUNGARY
10am Visit the magnificent neo-gothic Parliament House, landmark of Budapest and home of the 1000 year old Holy Crown and coronation jewels. We then drive 26 km north into Hungary’s countryside to the Baroque village of Szentendre famous for its colonies of artists, sculptors and painters. We visit the Marzipan museum where many celebrities are sculptured in marzipan.
In the afternoon you will have free time to wander around the crooked, cobblestone streets, shops full of souvenirs, embroidery, pottery, wines and paprika. Here you’ll have a chance to taste real Hungarian Goulash or the traditional fish soup “Halaszle”.
7pm Traditional Hungarian New Year’s Eve Gala Dinner with entertainment at our hotel’s elegant restaurant.
Day 7: Mon 1 Jan [New Year’s Day] BUDAPEST, HUNGARY
Enjoy a day at leisure. Take advantage of the hotel’s exceptional spa facilities and enjoy the included relaxation massage treatment. You may like to take a leisurely stroll or jog around the track around Margaret Island and explore ruins and hidden statues surrounded by century old trees and fauna.
12pm: New Year’s Day concert at the hotel. Complimentary wine and drinks provided.
8pm The day will finish with a spectacular Danube River cruise and a glass of champagne.
Day 8: Tues 2 Jan BUDAPEST – VIENNA, AUSTRIA
10am: Depart for a 3 hour drive to Austria’s capital city Vienna.
We then check into the Hotel City Central, located in a heart of the city walking distance to all the major sites of Vienna following which we have an orientation tour of the area.
6pm: We meet in the lobby for a short drive to the City Park and the famous Kursalon – where the first Johann Strauss’ concert took place in Oct 1868. Our dinner will be at the stylish Johann Restaurant, followed by a world-class Mozart and Strauss concert in the Kursalon’s historical setting. You will enjoy a great show of opera, waltz and dance.
Day 9: Wed 3 Jan VIENNA, AUSTRIA
10 am. Board the bus for a 5 hour Grand City Tour. Admire the splendid building of the Ringstrasse, the State Opera house, the Museum of fine Arts and Natural History. See the museum quarter, the Hofburg, the Parliament, the City Hall and the Burgertheatre. We visit the interior of the Schunbrunn Palace, the summer residence of the Habsburg. Enjoy the impressive strudel show at the Court Bakery and taste a freshly baked strudel with a cup of coffee.
7pm: Dinner at Kronprince Rudolf restaurant next door to our hotel
Day 10: Thurs 4 Jan VIENNA WOODS , AUSTRIA
10am: Board the bus for a 5 hour tour of the beautiful Vienna Woods. Visit the world’s oldest and continuously occupied Cistercian Monastery, founded in 1133 at Heiligenkreuz. The next stop will be the Mayerling Hunting Lodge where Crown
Prince Rudolf and his mistress Baroness Mary Vetsera committed suicide. Our final stop will be the spa town of Baden Bei Wien where Beethoven finished his greatest work, the Ninth Symphony.
6:45 pm: Short walk to Vienna’s oldest restaurant the historical Griechenbeisl, where artist scholars and politicians would congregate and still continue to meet here and enjoy meal and drinks.
Day 11: Fri 5 Jan VIENNA, AUSTRIA
Enjoy your free day. Visit the Museum Quarter, Spanish Riding School, Belvedere Gallery or Albertina, explore the shops, relax over an authentic Viennese coffee or just walk around the impressive Ringstasse.
Day 12: Sat 6 Jan CESKY KRUMLOV, CZECH REPUBLIC
10am: Depart on a scenic countryside drive and cross the border into Czech Republic’s UNESCO heritage-listed medieval town, Cesky Krumlov. This fairytale village is one of the most perfectly restored villages in Central Europe.
6pm: Dinner will be served in the Gothic dungeon of the Old Town Prison.
Day 13: Sun 7 Jan CESKY KRUMLOV, CZECH REPUBLIC
10am: Meet our local guide and discover a true gem among the UNESCO monuments – Cesky Krumlov. A town build around the 13 century Gothic castle. Marvel at the pedestrian town of which 82% of the buildings are UNESCO heritage-listed, walk the cobblestone streets with colourful houses and magnificently restored monuments.
6pm: Dinner at the local restaurant.
Day 14: Mon 8 Jan CESKY KRUMLOV – PRAGUE, CZECH REPUBLIC
10am: Depart for a 3 hour drive through the scenic Bohemian countryside for Prague - one of the most beautiful cities of Europe. We check into KK Hotel Central a unique Art Noveau hotel in the heart of Prague.
5pm: Dinner at the Café Imperial with breathtaking decor, once frequented by Franz Kafka and now owned by Czech television chef Zdenek Pohlreich. After dinner we walk to the Broadway theatre to enjoy the WOW Black Light Theatre, the longest running show in Prague. Enjoy poetry, humour and irony without using words. The show will capture your heart!
Day 15: Tues 9 Jan PRAGUE, CZECH REPUBLIC
10am: Meet your local guide for a grand bus and walking Tour of Prague. Uncover the rich history of this beautiful city. See 1000 year old Prague Castle, Charles Bridge, St. Vitus Cathedral and Astronomical clock, once the envy of all Europe.
Enjoy a late lunch/early dinner at the Novomestky Pivovar - Prague’s first microbrewery – and a chance to sample the delights of its own brand light and dark wheat beer.
PM: We attend the stunning Prague State Opera. (programme to be advised)
Day 16: Wed 10 Jan PRAGUE, CZECH REPUBLIC
10am: A bus ride will take you to our boat for a 90 minute cruise on Vltava River for unique panoramic views of Prague. We then walk to the Jewish Quarter and explore Its torrid history that dates from the 13th century , see the 15th century cemetery and visit the Spanish Synagogue built in 1868.
7pm: Dinner at one of the wonderful local restaurant,
Day 17: Thurs 11 PRAGUE, CZECH REPUBLIC
A full day at leisure. Walk the streets as Prague’s most intriguing aspects are its architecture and atmosphere best enjoyed while slowly wandering through the city's heart. ..you might also want to take advantage of the incredible shopping ….
7pm: Farewell dinner at our hotel’s restaurant.
Day 18: Fri 12 Jan PRAGUE – DUBAI - AUSTRALIA
11:30am: Depart for Prague airport to Australia via Dubai
